Schooner Publishing
As an independent book publisher, we are dedicated to serving the frequently overlooked community of writers who seek manuscript reviews for potential publication. These are individuals often ignored by traditional publishers and are reluctant to bear the significant initial costs tied to subsidy publishers or "vanity presses." We also acknowledge the stigma linked to vanity publishing, which many authors endeavor to steer clear of.
You may be considering the self-publishing route, which offers benefits like retaining copyright, faster time to market, creative control, and higher royalty rates. However, numerous obstacles can impede a successful book launch. The writing process alone is a formidable task, consuming considerable time and energy. It's crucial to recognize that self-publishing involves more than just time and a willingness to learn. Specific skills and the execution of certain tasks are essential. Without knowledge of what these tasks are or how to accomplish them, you may encounter problems. Activities such as editing, typesetting, proofreading, cover design, pricing, and marketing are just some of the essentials.
Schooner Publishing provides support in publishing your work in print and digital formats, capitalizing on the numerous benefits of self-publishing. Our services are designed to accommodate your budget, requiring no initial investment and minimal to no subsequent costs.
Established in 2014 by William S. Burton, Schooner Publishing is a sole proprietorship operating in the province of Ontario, Canada. Mr. Burton, who is retired from Supply Chain Management and has a wealth of experience in writing and assessing corporate proposals, was inspired to start his publishing company by his passion for literature and his desire to publish his grandfather's seafaring stories ("Grand Bank Schoonermen: Life on the sea as told by veteran sea captain Samson H. Bradley"). Recognizing the many challenges faced by independent authors, he is committed to utilizing his expertise to help writers bring their stories to life.
